Intent
At St Theresa’s Primary School, we view mathematics as essential to everyday life, critical to science,
technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment.
A high-quality mathematics education therefore provides a foundation for understanding the world,
the ability to reason mathematically, and a sense of enjoyment and curiosity about the subject.
It is used to analyse and communicate information and ideas and to tackle a range of practical tasks and real life problems.
It also provides the materials and means for creating new imaginative worlds to explore.

Quality of Teaching and Learning
A typical lesson involves all classes following the West Yorkshire White Rose Hub scheme of work.
Questions are carefully crafted to develop children’s fluency, reasoning, and problem solving skills and conceptual understanding for mastery.
It focuses on core topics to build deep understanding.
We are also signed up to the Times-Tables Rockstars initiative and children have their own log-in to take part.
