Computing

Computer science, information technology and digital literacy are critically important in our digital world.

Miss Nicholson is our Computing leader and she has prepared a long term curriculum map as well as an intent statement below.

We take online safety very seriously at St Theresa's, find out more here: online safety.

Intent

At St Theresa’s our aim is to provide a computing curriculum which equips children for an ever-changing digital world.
Our computing curriculum focuses on a progression of skills in three main areas;
computer science, information technology and digital literacy
to ensure that every child becomes competent in safely using, as well as understanding, technology.
Each year group builds on the skills taught during the previous year,
to ensure that by year 6 our children are confident using technology.
Our intention is that Computing also supports children’s creativity and cross curricular learning to engage children and enrich their experiences in school.
We want the use of technology to support learning across the entire curriculum
and to ensure that our curriculum is accessible to every child.
Purple Mash is embedded in the curriculum as a whole and allows the children
to build on all the skills required in the 2014 National Curriculum for Computing.
The objectives within each strand support the development of learning across the key stages,
ensuring a solid grounding for future learning and beyond.
