Special Events in School

Special Events

Hi and welcome to our special events page!  We will post lots of things here that are special events in school that children from various classes are involved in.  Please click on the pictures or links below and enjoy!

Good Shepherd Presentation at Saint Anne’s Cathedral, Leeds – 11th May 2018

A group of our altar servers represented our school at this important diocesan event.  It is an annual celebration of the work of our schools in support of  Catholic Care, an organisation which  gives all kinds of help to people in our own area. The children presented Bishop Marcus with a cheque for the money we raised during Lent.

Many thanks to Gabrielle, Karl, McKenzie, Sadie and Liepa for representing our school on this wonderful occasion!

(They were delighted to have their photograph taken with Bishop Marcus!)

Our Amazing Decorated Egg Competition

Many thanks to everyone who took part in our decorated egg competition – there were LOADS of entries from right across the school so we raised a lot of money for our Lenten charities!

DIOCESE OF LEEDS PILGRIMAGE ~ 18th OCTOBER 2017

We were delighted to take the MiniVinnies and altar servers to Ripon Cathedral for the Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage. They joined pupils from all over the Leeds Diocese in celebration of our Catholic Faith. The Mass was a wonderful occasion and afterwards we all enjoyed a picnic and a walk in the autumn sunshine. The children were a credit to their families and to our school and we are immensely proud of them!

St Theresa’s Feast Day 2017 and Mini Vinnies Commissioning Ceremony

This year, St Theresa’s feast day falls on a Sunday so we celebrated our patron saint’s special day on Friday 29th September with a wonderful mass in school.

At the end of Mass our new Mini Vinnies  had a short commissioning ceremony to mark the beginning of a new year working with the SVP Society.

Being in the Mini Vinnies is about doing good works in the community, but it is also about our young people meeting to talk, to share ideas and concerns, to have fun and to support each other. The Vinnies model of ‘See,Think, Do’ is a great way to get young people thinking and talking about their spirituality,  connecting their beliefs and values with service  in their community can help to make their faith real, meaningful and relevant.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations!

Many congratulations to Father Ghebreyesus, who is celebrating 25 years in the priesthood! He is a very important part of the St Theresa’s family and we are very grateful for his hard work. The children presented him with a framed picture and a wonderful hand-made card. We hope he will continue to work with us for many years to come!

The Month of Mary

Many of our children took part in the Crowning of Mary at our churches on the first Sunday of May. It’s great to see this tradition being carried on in our parish – many thanks to the Children’s Liturgy teams!

Decorated Egg competition 2017

Many thanks to all the children who entered the decorated egg competition organised by Y3 as part of our Lenten fund-raising  – and to mums and dads who helped a bit! We were inundated with wonderful entries from Foundation right through to Y6. At the last count we had raised about £100 and there was still a bit more to come in – thank you so much for all your support!

Judge Rowbottom and Judge Collins – brought in at great expense – had the unenviable job of choosing winners. You are ALL winners, but the judges chose Freya Ellis (2GL) to take home the KS1 Easter egg, and Lucy Waldron (3LC) as the KS2 prize winner. Amelie Wolstenholme (6KH) was the overall winner of the competition with her amazing model of ‘Our Eggstraordinary School’.

KS1 prize winner Freya Ellis with her model of Jesus

KS2 prize winner Lucy Waldron with her model of St Gregory’s Church – complete with Father G, congregation and furniture!

Amelie Wolstenholme was a worthy winner of the overall prize with her magnificent model of the school. She had spent a very long time working on it!

We hope you enjoy looking at our photos of many of the other entries too!
